Palm Springs, the desert oasis where Hollywood A-listers hide away, isn’t lacking an inventory of homes. Nothing like that calm desert air to smooth out the nerves, even for a comedian like Jerry Lewis, who made a one-man industry out of herky-jerky humor and who last year, after 45 years, saw the end of his Labor Day muscular dystrophy telethon.
Now the mid-century modern ranch at 1349 S Sagebrush Rd, Palm Springs, CA 92264 that once belonged to Lewis has seen a price drop. Originally listed in late June for $729,000, listing agent and owner Judith Havener of Keller Williams has reduced the price to $645,000.
The 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom home has undergone an extensive remodel since it was last sold in 1994, including Spanish-tile floors and a cook’s kitchen. There are also plenty of cooling options, including air conditioning units, swamp coolers, a foam roof and double-pane windows to help keep that desert heat at bay.
The home is in the Deepwell neighborhood in south Palm Springs, where many celebrities have lived over the years. Real estate agent Steve Stewart and his Palm Springs Celebrity Homes blog chronicle the brick-and-mortar history of Lewis’ former home and other celebrity real estate in the desert hideaway.
